Nectar

On its way to victory, Lisa’s manuscript faced some very tough competition from many well-crafted manuscripts from talented and award-winning entrants. The editors pondered over each submission, narrowing the field as they went. Lisa’s kept rising to the top and the final decision was unanimous. We are overjoyed with the outcome. Lisa’s poetry dazzles with its clarity and humanness; its language is just hip enough to comfortably blast down urban streets under the arms of youthful scenesters, yet Zen-like with a transcendental prowess. Here Bellamy dispenses enough world-worn wisdom to make the Buddha blush—and images lovely enough to make any haiku practitioner awestruck. Nectar is set for a publication date of mid-December. Lisa's poetry has been published in Cimarron Review, Fugue, Harpur Palate, Massachusetts Review, New Ohio Review, PANK, The Sun, Tiferet and Triquarterly among other publications. In 2008, she won the Fugue Poetry Prize and has received three Pushcart Prize nominations. Bellamy graduated from Princeton University and studies writing with Philip Schultz at The Writers Studio in New York City, where she also teaches.
