A Sample of Devin's Poetry*

Or This Poem is Lost

this town
is being lashed
with wind driven
fat flakes

power lines sag
and sway snow
laden tree branches lean
and snap

this electricity
must hold
or this poem
is lost

this town might
hold my restless soul
because this shit
is beautiful

I know this leaning
out my bathroom window
sheltering my cigarette
dreaming my dreams

the court house flag
flapping and brass banging
in the frenzied orange
street storm glow

the fuzz
a lone vehicle
creeping down slushy
main street
